IRELAND 2018

Ireland.jpg

A family wedding is a great incentive to travel, and an absence of thirty-two years made our 2018 trip to Ireland a memorable one.

We had no firm plans; no itinerary. Yet, we had talked about starting our trip with a road trip along part of the Wild Atlantic Way, starting from Kinsale in Co. Cork and working our way up along the west coast. In reality we travelled just 120 kilometres of a possible 2600 kilometres of the iconic road.

What we did do however, was immerse ourselves in the West Clare way of life. We travelled along the country roads, and we took our time visiting ancient landforms, neolithic sites, and even a movie set or two. As much as I would have liked to have visited more places within Ireland, I am more than delighted with getting off the beaten track and with connecting with family. Of course, we encountered a few surprises along the way.
